Eye on Amtrak at AREMA conference

When I attended the American Railway Engineering and Maintenance-of-Way Association's annual conference and expo on Sept. 18, I was curious to find out what Amtrak CEO Joe Boardman was going to talk about during his keynote address at the chairman's luncheon. I figured he would touch on developments in the Northeast Corridor and attempts to establish high- and higher-speed rail in various parts of the country. Boardman didn't disappoint on those counts. He didn't fail to mention all the obstacles Amtrak is facing while it tries to carry out some growth initiatives, either. To read my web exclusive account of Boardman's speech, follow this link.
