Typically, Union Pacific Railroad can't fill 20 to 30 positions in its information technology group because the Class I's recruiters can't find enough people with the requisite skills. But a new information technology center UP opened in Austin, Texas, in December could help with those recruiting efforts. The facility brings recruiters and group leaders closer to the top-tier talent residing in one of the nation's hottest technology hubs. To learn more about the center, follow this link to read an article I wrote for our new "Upfront" section that was introduced in the January issue.
Not to take anything away from the UT, Chicago has three pretty darned good university computer schools; so this just sounds like so much PR puff. Hard to conceive that UP recruiters could.t find Chicago or California.
