ASLRRA (almost) at 100

The American Short Line and Regional Railroad Association is marking its 100th anniversary this year. The association's first predecessor, the Short Line Railroad Association of the Southeast, was formed on Sept. 17, 1913. Over the past century, the association has helped small railroads adapt to changing business and regulatory conditions — and there have been plenty on both counts. To learn about the changes that not only colored the short-line industry, but painted the association in varying shades as the industry evolved, follow this link to read my article, "Change agent for the small-road crowd," that appears in the February issue.
