Railway Interchange, RailTrends, Secure Rail

As many railroaders prepare to head to Minneapolis for Railway Interchange 2015 in a few weeks (Oct. 4-7), we're planning and/or putting the finishing touches on a couple shindigs of our own: RailTrends® 2015, which will be held Nov. 19-20 at the W New York Hotel in New York City; and the second iteration of Secure Rail, which will be held Feb. 9-10, 2016, at the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort in Orlando, Fla.

From railroad execs to logistics leaders to industry analysts to trade association heads, this year's RailTrends lineup is diverse, as noted in my September issue column. We'll also be honoring CSX Corp. Chairman and CEO Michael Ward, this year's recipient of our Railroad Innovator Award. For the complete agenda or to register, visit railtrends.com.

Meanwhile, the program for Secure Rail 2016 is just beginning to take shape. The conference is designed for people responsible for railroad security, emergency preparedness, hazmat transportation, data security, border control, management of bridges and tunnels and capital infrastructure programs. At Secure Rail, a range of security experts and others representing the government, private industry and railroads will address a range of subjects — from emergency preparedness to cybersecurity to cargo and metal theft to a host of technology topics. We'll have more to report, program wise, in a month or so, so stay tuned. In the meantime, see you in Minneapolis. We'll be setting up shop in Booth 1206 (RSSI section).
