Michael Ward and the Innovator Award

It's RailTrends week, and we're just about ready to head out to NYC for the annual summit (Nov. 19-20, the W New York Hotel) — attendance, I'm hearing, is looking especially strong this year (thanks in advance, attendees and sponsors). One of the people we know folks are coming to see is Michael Ward, the 2015 recipient of the "Railroad Innovator Award." The award recognizes an individual's outstanding achievement in the rail industry. I wrote about some of what he's achieved during his career in a story that appears in our November issue. During his leadership tenure, Ward has prepped CSX for the post-coal world, leading the charge to diversify the railroad's business portfolio, a strategy that's helped keep CSX on the growth track. He also has helped keep the Class I on the continuous-improvement curve, particularly when it comes to service. He's certainly made a big-time difference, which is why we're looking forward to presenting him with the award. Hope to see you there, too.
