Last month, Progressive Railroading held its 11th annual RailTrends conference in New York City. As in years past, the event featured presentations from a number of industry heavy hitters, including Federal Railroad Administrator Sarah Feinberg, AAR President and CEO Ed Hamberger, and CSX Transportation Chairman and CEO Michael Ward, who was honored with this year's Railroad Innovator Award.
Discussion of the potential CP-NS merger inevitably came up, with input on the regulatory hurdles involved from Surface Transportation Board Chairman Dan Elliott. In our December issue, columnist Tony Hatch provided a brief rundown on the event's other key takeaways. If you were in attendance, did you glean any new insights from the speakers? Anything to add to Hatch's list? And do you have any suggestions for topics at next year's conference? Feel free to share them in the comments section below.
