For many in Rail Country, 2016 was a difficult year. Business, by and large, was sluggish. Economic and political uncertainty ruled all year long, and has lingered into the new year. Amid the murkiness, a few big-picture trends and, sadly, a few tragedies framed the rail-news year that was 2066, if your news-reading habits are any indication.
