Spring, railroaders tell us, can be the best time to prepare for the ice and snow and cold to come. It's a good time to review snow removal, switch heater and energy management options, and start to determine what they need to do to ensure they’re prepared for the winter they know will come. For what's become our annual "winter challenges" technology roundup, we contacted more than a dozen companies seeking information on their latest products and equipment — from heavy-duty snow plows and blowers to automated rail heating systems to idle-reduction technology. In our May issue, we featured offerings from five companies that responded to our email inquiry: Flink Co., HOTSTART, Knox Kershaw Inc., Railway Equipment Co. and Spectrum Inc. Did you miss our email? If you have equipment or technology designed to help freight and passenger railroads beat back whatever winter dishes up, feel free to send a product release (and an image or video link) to firstname.lastname@example.org. We'll post it in our Rail Product News section.
