"Santa Fe Jack" Hayslett retired hobo passes away and catches the westbound

  • Santa Fe Jack Hayslett Catches the Westbound - 10-08-2011, 06:24 AM

    Another oldtimer passes away.

"Santa Fe Jack" Hayslett, of Atchison, Kansas died a couple of days ago. Funeral services will be held at the Arensburg-Pruett Funeral Home, 208 North 5th Street, Atchison, KS 66002 on October 15, 2011 at 1 p.m.

Jack will be buried in a coffin custom-painted with the War Bonnet paint scheme of the Santa Fe Super Chief, just like his van. (Some of you may have seen Jack's Super Chief van at hobo gatherings.)

Jack's family asks that any and all of his tramp friends and acquaintences that can attend please do so. Everybody is welcome and if you have pictures or stories of Jack to share, bring 'em.

No word on room for camping, but I'm pretty sure something could be arranged.

R.I.P. Santa Fe Jack. Ride easy, bro.
  • Now how many of you would like a Caddilac in Conrail Blue?

  • A day late and a dollar short.  The man dies nearly six months ago.  Perhaps "commoncarrier" was into the sauce on Sunday night?
